Demografía, feminismo y el nexo entre ciencia y política

Resumen


Es muy reciente la inclusión en los estudios demográficos de una perspectiva que relacione de manera amplia los sistemas de género con el comportamiento démográfico en un contexto intemacional, e incorpore a su reflexión los asuntos del desarrollo; además, este tipo de investigación es de alcance limitado y está muy fragmentado. Hace falta más conocimiento científico sobre la relación de la desigualdad por motivos de género --u otras desigualdades-- con los procesos demográficos; esta deficiencia sofoca el desarrollo de la demografía como ciencia y compromete su utilidad para los encargados de elaborar políticas sociales.
